Hagi Tea Bowl
A simple stoneware tea bowl with cheerful dots created by partial glazing. It is suitable for all types of tea, especially when serving generous amounts during warmer seasons due to its shape and thickness being effective at cooling.
Skilfully hand crafted by master potter Sawa Houzan in a minimal style. His selective use of glaze brings a playful character and a unique original texture to this bowl. Inside, subtle cracking is beautifully formed on the thin layer of glaze. On the outside of the bowl, shiny coloured dots are placed on the bare clay with a warm tone.
Sawa Houzan took the name of his father when he inherited his kiln, continuing his tradition of creating beautiful ceramics. Together with his son in his hometown of Shigaraki, he makes beautiful pieces skilfully crafted and uniquely designed, and appreciated by many throughout Japan.
Origin: Shigaraki-cho, Shiga prefecture, Japen
