Glass cup & tea coasters set
A versatile glass teacup with three handmade paper coasters exhibiting individual patterns suitable for different times of day.
Appropriate for a variety of teas for everyday use, simple in nature. The design takes on ancient Asian influences made using traditional glass blowing techniques from a French studio. The coasters are carefully considered for the teacup, creating a harmonious pairing by Yijia Yang. Each has unique patterns and textures created via a combination of various paper types and colours. Over time the surface of the paper will age beautifully from coming into contact with tea and light, giving a strong visual presence.
The set sits neatly in a bespoke paper box created by Yijia Yang. Decorated with fine quality European handmade paper in duck egg to finish, with oxide Japanese Mitsumata paper. Ruscombe Mill, where the maker has sourced the pale green coloured paper, is one of a handful of surviving mills left in Europe that still produces faithful reproductions of historic papers. Tied together with Ginwashi hemp paper and a greetings card with 'Silent Winter' message.
Cup: Origin - France, h 75mm x d 80mm, vol 150ml
Coasters: Maker - Yijia Yang, d 90mm
