Shirahana teapot & cup set
A valuable set of a Houhin round teapot and a Yunomi cup for a keen Gyokuro and high-quality Sencha drinker, made to deepen their relationship to everyday brewing.
Japanese potter Hitoshi Morimoto's signature Shirahana teaware is produced in a small number yearly in Okayama. Opting out the application of glaze keeps the earthy characteristics of the clay he sources locally. Such a quality stays the same even after the firing process. We hope you enjoy the delightful presentation of Gyokuro brewing in the book 'Tea Stories: Japan' delivered with this Houhin teapot. It will brew the perfect amount for the matching cup or two small cups to share with guests.
The set comes with a greetings card with 'Silent Winter' message. All together, nested in a bespoke paper box created by Yijia Yang specially for this set. Satogami dark blue paper gives it a velvety feeling with a fine cloudy texture. For its soft yet strong nature, the paper is often used for covers in book binding. Tied with Ginwashi hemp paper, it would make for long-lasting storage on display in one's home.
