Tea Roaster
This mini Japanese tea roaster set comes with matching ceramic stand and two natural stirring branches for a fresh home roasting experience. Master potter Sawa Houzans’ design is based on the traditional method of hand roasting tea leaves.
Either a small or medium sized tea light candle sits inside of the holder to generate heat towards the removable top burning plate. Kukicha is most suited for roasting, which will beautifully transform into Hojicha with a nutty aroma. It is also ideal for re-roasting Hojicha to revive it’s freshness and to use up the last of your Sencha from the bottom of the caddy.
Add one scoop of loose tea to the heated plate and avoiding the centre, let it sit for 20mins. Give it a gentle stir for one or two minutes, then it will be ready for brewing.
The set is coarse in texture with a partially glazed finish, this vessel presents the understated and quiet characteristics typical of Houzan's work.
