Tonari Tea Scoops
Handmade wooden tea scoops in five styles designed by woodwork studio Tonari based in Shiga near Kyoto, Japan.
Starting from a block of cherry or walnut tree, the maker completes each scoop by chiselling and creating intricate textures that are specific to the studio's practice. The selected scoops were originally made for dining and serving for all age groups and altered to suit tea brewing upon our request.
Tonari, 'Besides' is formed by two designers, Junpei and Naoko in 2011, creating furniture and wooden objects. Their work is inspired by the surrounding nature and these qualities are transformed naturally into these scoops. Made to last, they become a beautiful part of daily life.
