Genmaicha
A blend of spring sencha from Kagoshima with toasted brown rice kernels.
Genmaicha was born in Kyoto, originally drunk by those who could not afford to drink tea. Green tea was mixed with toasted rice kernels to bulk it out and make it last longer.
Using sencha rather than bancha creates a sweet, refined genmaicha with a smooth almond-like character. Also known as ‘popcorn tea’ due to its toasty and nutty aroma and buttery sweet taste.
Brew: Measure 4g (1 heaped teaspoon) per 200ml cup. Infuse at 70°C for 1 minute.
